Copy Hide
A notification pops up when someone adds an entry. Copy puts it on your clipboard.

Install

  1. Download clipline-setup.exe from Downloads.
  2. Run it. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because the setup isn't signed yet: click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Choose what to install: the tray app, the terminal tool or both. You can let the tray app start when you sign in.

The setup needs no admin rights; it installs for your user only. To update, download the new setup and run it – it keeps your choices and your settings.

Connect

On first start the tray app asks for:

  • Server URL: https://clipline.roedlach.tirol
  • API token: create one under API Tokens with read and create.

You find these again under Settings… in the tray menu.

Notifications

When someone adds an entry, a notification shows who added it, the team and a preview. Copy puts the text on your clipboard (for files: downloads them), Hide dismisses it. Clicking the notification itself opens Clipline in your browser. When many entries arrive at once you get one summary instead of a flood. A burn-after-reading entry shows no preview: Copy fetches it once and deletes it for everyone.

Your own entries from the same computer don't notify you.

Send your clipboard

  • Middle-click the tray icon to send what's on your clipboard right away: text, a screenshot, or files you copied in Explorer.
  • Send clipboard and Send files… in the tray menu do the same.
  • Send as sends once in a special way: Clipboard – only me and Files – only me… are visible only to you; Clipboard – burn after reading (text only) is deleted by the first copy, by anyone.
  • Send to picks the team (by default your current team), or one person of your teams: only the two of you see what you send then (Send to a person), and the menu says Send clipboard → Anna Berger.

Pause and mute

Under Notifications you can pause for 30 minutes, an hour, four hours, until tomorrow 8:00 or until you resume. Below that, untick teams you don't want to hear from. The tray icon changes while notifications are paused.

Recent entries

Recent entries in the tray menu lists what's on the clipboard right now. Click one to copy it.

Terminal tool

If you installed it, clipline is available in every new terminal (PowerShell, cmd, Windows Terminal). It works exactly like on Linux; see Terminal tool.

clipline --config
Get-Content notes.txt | clipline
clipline pull --latest

Updates

Once a day the app asks the server whether a newer version is available. If there is one, a notification offers Install, Later or Skip this version; Check for updates… in the menu checks right away. Nothing is installed until you click Install, and the download is checked against the server's checksum before it runs. To stop the daily check, untick Check for updates automatically in Settings….

Install runs the new setup in the background. It keeps the parts you installed, and the tray app starts again on its own.

The terminal tool points out a newer version once a day, only in an interactive terminal, never in scripts or pipes. $env:CLIPLINE_NO_UPDATE_CHECK = "1" turns that off.

Uninstall

Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Clipline → Uninstall. Your settings in %APPDATA%\Clipline stay, in case you install it again.

For administrators

Install silently with clipline-setup.exe /S. Add /NOTRAY for the terminal tool only, /NOCLI for the tray app only, /NOAUTOSTART to skip autostart. Uninstall silently with uninstall.exe /S from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Clipline.
